Diamond Shoals Restaurant

Welcome to the Diamond Shoals Restaurant. Located on Highway #12 in Buxton, it's a little slice of heaven near the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we arrived just in time to partake of the delicious lunch menu.

As you enter this fine establishment, tummy growling from your fun in the sun, you are greeted by a "Clown Fish" in the aquarium near the entrance. Remember the movie "Finding Nemo"? Well, here is a live little "Nemo" that the cartoon character was based upon.

As you can clearly see in the photo, clown fishes have a close relationship with sea anemones. The sea anemones provide the clown fish with protection, and the clown fish draws other fish closer, where they can be stung by the anemones. Isn't nature fascinating?

Oh, be sure to say hi to "Judy", who was our hostess, if she happens to be on duty. She was super friendly and added greatly to our overall dining experience.

Back to our story...we came here to eat... The Clam Chowder at Diamond Shoals is amongst the best we have ever tasted. Very rich and creamy, we were tempted to eat it with a fork. Who says you have to go to Boston to taste Clam Chowder Excellence! For Clam Chowder lovers, you need not look further.

Now for the main meal. This fine establishment is famous for it's fresh seafood, so we were anxious to partake. I personally opted for the "Fish and Chips" (technically, the "Fried Grouper and Fries"), and I was glad I did. Very, very Tasty! Be sure to add a beer for that finishing touch.

Don't think that seafood is the only option at the Diamond Shoals Restaurant. Have a hankering for Italian food? Why not try the spaghetti? The sauce was thick, meaty, and hearty. So hearty in fact that we had to take some of the dish home with us. A delicious souvenir for us to enjoy later...

As you head out the door, tummy full of delicious food, be sure to check out the fish at the "Largest Aquarium of Tropical Fish on the Outer Banks".

The conclusion of the matter? We found ourselves talking about our meal, and especially the clam chowder, for days afterwards. We will definitely be back.
